Time Magazine is expecting something big in Detroit. The people of this city are crying out for reform. This is possibly the church’s greatest opportunity in recent history to initiate Biblical transformation in the region.
Revival Church is intently focused on full blown revival and reformation in Detroit. Here’s a quick podcast on this that I just recorded:

Monday marked the beginning of what Time Inc. is calling Assignment Detroit, a year-long project to use their full range of media outlets to chronicle the life of the city of Detroit.
In a highly unusual decision for a news organization, Time has purchased a 95-year-old house in Detroit’s historic West Village neighborhood, next to Indian Village. The home will serve as a base of operations for months — and perhaps a couple of years — as Time’s various publications cast a unique spotlight on Detroit and chronicle its increasingly desperate struggle to reinvent itself. A Time reporter has told acquaintances he will move in before the end of summer. People familiar with the project said news coverage would be provided by staffers from several of Time Inc.’s more than 100 magazines, which include Time, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, Money, People, Essence and Entertainment Weekly.
Time’s editor-in-chief, John Huey, told the New York Times why the media company wants to focus on Detroit: “It sounds grandiose, but it is one of the great stories of our time,” he said. “Detroit is like a prism on any story you want — social, economic, health care, race, education — it is all there. And it is all there in extremis.”
Consider the seven mountains of influence- they are all on center stage here in Detroit:
- Spirituality and Church – There are more churches per capita in Detroit than anywhere in nation
- Family – As jobs are lost, middle class families are devastated and are now frequenting food pantries
- Education – The Detroit public school deficit tops $150 million- many can’t even afford toilet paper. The new U.S. Secretary of Education on Friday said the federal government has a moral obligation to reform Detroit’s failing city schools.
- Government and Law – There’s been well documented corruption in the government of Detroit.
- Media and Communication – Time magazine bought a house here for reporters to stay in for the next year or two to chronicle Detroit’s reformation. All eyes are on Detroit.
- Arts and Entertainment – Hollywood has come here in force. Sam Raimi, director of Spider-man is focusing on Detroit (Spiderman 4 will be filmed in part here), Drew Barrymore, Clint Eastwood and others are filming movies here.
- Business and Finance – The collapse of the auto industry has been felt around the world.

We are positioning ourselves for a massive move of God in the Detroit area, and we’re praying in likeminded revivalists who are ready to burn night and day.

Podcast- Kingdom finances and our responsibility to steward our ministries
Most people tend to think that finances will simply ‘arrive’ if we step into our ministries. It’s a dangerous idea and it has led to a lot of frustration and many failed missions.
We are called to ensure our missions are fulfilled. Nothing can stand in the way- including a lack of finances. We are called to initiate and develop multiple streams of income. As we do this, God will bring the increase.

Important Revival Church Update
You are invited to our first Sunday event!
Bring your kids, your friends and your family THIS SUNDAY, September 27th at 5pm for a POTLUCK and then for a couple hours of prophetic prayer, worship and vision casting.
Here’s the famous ‘no fail’ potluck strategy:
Everybody bring a main course AND everybody ALSO bring either a side OR a dessert. So, we’ll all be bringing two courses. We will have the grill hot if you’d like to bring meat. Arrive right on time so we can eat and fellowship, and then start into prayer and worship around 6pm.
We will be meeting, temporarily, in our home until we find a property to move into.
The next, and succeeding Sunday evenings we’ll start in prayer and intercession at 5pm, and then roll right into prayer and worship at 6pm.

This is open to anybody and everybody… even though we’ll be in pre-launch mode in the current season, these are public meetings. We want to meet everybody who the Lord might be drawing together to press toward revival in Detroit.

TONIGHT- Revival Church : A declaration of spiritual and financial revival

I feel such a strong, stirring anointing right now as I’m writing this.
The searing, shaking and all-invasive burning of revival is coming to Detroit, and God is calling people to gather together and unite as men and women on fire.
Revival Church is a regional revival center- a place where we are seeking revelation and strategy on how to facilitate the high level of Holy Spirit activity that’s quickly approaching.

A quick point that I believe will help some of you as you pursue ministry.
There is often a feeling that people have: if we are obedient to the Lord by stepping into ministry then the finances will automatically follow. Many tend to believe that the arrival of financial provision is an indicator of God’s approval of our direction. That’s a dangerous position to have as it leaves us wavering and doubting when that ‘confirmation’ doesn’t arrive.
When we directed Intro to IHOP in KC we taught on this during the financial and fundraising track.
This concept has kept many people in ministry frustrated and discouraged. The reality is this- God has given us a mandate, a responsibility to ensure our missions are fulfilled, which means that we must also ensure the funds are there. It’s up to us, via biblical wisdom and the enabling of God, to develop a strong financial portfolio.
I’ve also said it this way: We have a responsibility to be blessed. We must ensure we have the blessing of God so we can fulfill the call to be a blessing! We are blessed to be a blessing!
Throughout the New Testament in particular we see the importance of taking up the responsibility to cause things to happen. We boldly speak, and souls are won. We “Go” into all the world and make disciples. Nowhere in the NT do we see anybody praying to God to heal somebody. They declare healing themselves! They initiate it via the finished work on the cross. Of course, the power to do any of this comes from God… that goes without saying. But, we can’t take a wait and see approach and hope that things just fall into place.
In the internship we taught on the importance of personally developing multiple streams of income so our ministries aren’t put at risk. These are streams that we initiate, develop and see through to success. For example, for Amy and me to be able to fulfill the order from God to plant a church, to travel and speak, to pray night and day, to write books, etc. it means that we have to discover methods to earn sufficient income to ensure the mission isn’t in jeopardy.
So, I really want to encourage you to work hard, to enjoy moving toward all of your fulfilled missions in life and to experience great blessing so others can be greatly blessed!

It’s important to develop multiple streams of income, to steward our callings well. It’s important that we’re involved in opportunities that are solid, extremely reputable and those that excel in integrity. We are beyond excited about this business!
Our goal is to hit the $4000+/month mark within the next 10 months. Five hours a week, which is what we invested up until the last month or so, has resulted in our last check of $586. (We thought we’d make an extra $300 or $400 a month when we first started… now, we see that this is much more powerful (and simple!) than that.
We really want to see people become able to quit their jobs and focus on family and ministry… it’s a huge desire of our heart.

For example, a pastor told us he’s looking for an extra $1000/month within the next six months… and we’re working to help him reach it. We traveled an hour away to help him develop his team yesterday, and had a blast!
