A coming ‘maddening spirit’ : David Wilkerson : Earth Shattering Calamity

Friday evening I received a word from the Lord regarding a coming ‘maddening spirit’ coming to Detroit and the nation.  It all has to do with the strategy of the demonic spirit of control.

Those who embrace the spirit of control (and there are MANY) are in a very susceptible place.  The bait is the promise of ‘control’.  The outcome, however, is to be maddened when, no matter how hard we try, we lose control as life comes crashing down around us.

I deal with this issue of control in my book Covens in the Church.  It’s a much more serious issue even than what I reveal in that book.  Covens in the Church Box

I had a vision Friday night of a steering wheel.  Two hands gripped the wheel, and controlled the direction they were going in.  I could tell by the grip that the person driving the car was totally engaged, in charge and determined to go where he wanted to go.

All of a sudden, the car started to rock and shake violently.  It was obvious the car was losing control.  At this point in the vision I saw the masses, all represented by the hands on the steering wheel, going mad.  The scene was horrifying.  I saw faces demonized and contorted.  It was as if they had straight jackets on and were screaming and gnashing their teeth.

The Lord impressed on me that we will see this in the natural and in the spirit.  The two worlds will collide.  As homes are foreclosed on and finances crash and if there is another terrorist attack… all of this will lead to panic and terror like we’ve never seen.  In the spirit, those who are maintaining control will also go mad as the spirit of the Lord is withdrawn.  it’s a King Saul reality.  I feel the worship and prayer movement will become more necessary than we’ve considered.  As the maddening comes, we’ll need Davids to play the harp and minister to the Lord in the midst of the chaos.

1 Samuel 16:23 (NIV) Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.

This is deeply connected with the vision for revival in Detroit and other cities.  Revival will NOT happen if we don’t let go of the steering wheel.  As we let go, and allow God to manifest in ways we’ve previously not allowed, we’ll see revival and we’ll be immune to the maddening.  Beyond that we’ll be in position to minister in prayer and worship to those who have gone mad, to those who are gripped by fear.

Here’s an alarming word by David Wilkerson that I received today.  We must be ready:

AN URGENT MESSAGEcapture-00000-3-9-2009

I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE – EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.

For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,
“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3).

God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.

The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).

In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.
WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD’S PEOPLE?

First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We “flee like a bird to a mountain.” Or, as David says, “He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven—his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men” (v. 4). “In the Lord I take refuge” (v. 1).
I will say to my soul: No need to run…no need to hide. This is God’s righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take—trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.
Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.

God bless and keep you,
In Christ,
DAVID WILKERSON
