Amy prayed a few days ago, “God, if you want us to move to Detroit, I’d like to have a contract on the house before Friday.”
God complied. We received an offer this morning, responded with a counter offer and just got back from the realtor’s office where we signed the contract.
SOLD!
In 6 days.
Amazing.
Our realtor told another realtor, “God must have something very special prepared for that family. What happened is nearly impossible.”
I agree. We’re ready to serve revival, and we’re excited to see how all of the pieces continue to fit together as we enter this next phase.
It’s becoming more interesting how God is confirming our journey and how it’s connected to Manitou Springs. Our season in Kansas City was more strategic than we realized it would be, and it was what connected us to Ron Zettle in Detroit. I’ll be meeting with Barbara Yoder in May in Michigan, and she has key connections back in Colorado Springs with Peter Wagner and the directors of RHOP.
There’s been a lot of recent very confirming prophecy… quite amazing stuff. So, God is with us and we’re doing our best to follow the Leader!
There are many people in Michigan that want to take a prayer/warfare trip to Manitou. The vision of moving around the nation to spread the news of the Manitou Springs vision is coming to pass. I believe a DEEP and EXPLOSIVE revival will be igniting in Detroit… bigger and broader than we realize. I can see that fire scorching Manitou Springs and other cities as transformed people impart their new found fire.
Someone from Alaska heard about me, and contacted a friend in Montana. She called me during my last trip to Detroit and shared a vision- it was a mirror of a vision that I had several years ago… stunningly accurate.
I was on a prayer journey on the Cog Railway, and on the side of the mountain, on the way up, I had the vision. I could see, from that position on the mountain, the entire nation from coast to coast. I saw cities start to ‘open up’. There was an open heaven, a portal, a radiance over several cities. I knew God was taking me to the cities of the earth. Well, this lady shared a vision that she was on the side of Pikes Peak (not on the top, but on the side, just as I was), and Jesus told her that cities were opening up. Amazing. So, I’m very serious about being in the right city at the right time.
Of course, there is always more data that we don’t have than we do have… living a ‘revelation driven life’ is risky, wild and critical for us as we rest on God’s ‘now word’ every day.
All of this being said, as itinerate revivalists, we’re very open to any turn that may present itself. We know that Detroit has been unusually open to the presence of God… people are yearning for His presence.
We’re praying hard about how to help take the Manitou vision to the next level… my guess is that we’ll know more soon. It’s all uniquely connected.
I want to share an email I received, and also my response as I shared what God has been doing prophetically regarding the call to revival:
Hi John,
I don’t have a specific prophetic word for you; but I do want to communicate that ever since I first came across your name and discovered that you were going to be in Michigan 9 times in 2009; I have had a sense – an "I know, that I know, that I know" sense that you are supposed to be positioned in Michigan for "such a time as this". And maybe someone has already told you this; but Michigan isn’t one of those places that you move to because of how wonderful it is — just the opposite; the ministers that have come here over the last 5-10 years have literally been summoned here by God for what He is going to birth. I believe you are a midwife for us and you have received the "call" to come here because you are a revival warrior — not just any revivalist — but a warrior revivalist and one who knows how to deliver the baby in the midst of warfare. You are not afraid to say it like it is and that is key for this region. This baby is coming breach and you are a specialist at delivering even those ones that don’t want to be delivered! I saw your spirit and passion at IHOPE and you are the breed that Detroit needs. I understand what you say about the fact that even though the blips on the radar screen are stronger for MI doesn’t necessarily mean that you are to come here — i.e. just because a door is open in front of us doesn’t always mean it is God and that we are to step through — but — in this case, I do believe you are to move here. So those are my thoughts; as you know; eat the meat and spit out the bones!
And here’s my response. Note the interesting connection regarding ‘birthing’:
I can’t sleep, so I thought I’d fill you in on the specifics regarding the midwife/birthing word.
We had lost four babies in a row to miscarriage and were pregnant again. We started to receive some semi-generic words about the baby and revival. Then the words started to get a bit more specific. The last word was something like, “John, when you are in the delivery room something is going to happen that will be symbolic of how God will use you in revival.”
So, the day came, and the last thing I was thinking about was prophecy! The baby was almost here when the doctor, who had delivered the four losses, looked at me and asked, “John, do you want to deliver the baby?”
I had probabl
y 30 seconds before the baby was to arrive. I didn’t have gloves on. I was just dressed in jeans and didn’t even have time to wash my hands. I moved into position as the doctor moved to the side. He gave me a 20 second lesson on how to deliver a baby. How to pull the head, how to catch the baby, to prepare for it to be very slippery, etc.So, in the next seconds it happened just as the doctor said. It was spectacular. The nurse said that was only the 2nd time in her 15 years at the hospital that she saw a doctor let the father deliver the baby.
Afterwards God got my attention. He said, “John, revival is coming, and, just as your miracle baby was delivered into your hands, revival will be delivered into your hands. It’s precious. You will be trained by the Holy Spirit in the moments just prior to its arrival. You won’t be ready, but I’ll make you ready. It will be messy and slippery. Meaning, don’t try to grab it too hard. Keep your hands open and carefully hold on to it.
Well, then a few years later something else happened. I was at an amazing service at IHOP where God was breaking out. Someone, who had been on the platform throughout the service, came down to me during the ministry time. I had never seen him before. He said, “I was watching you from the platform, and, though I’d never seen you before, you were in a dream I had recently. I saw caravans of revival moving out into the cities of the earth, and then back again. I saw you in the midst of that.”
I thanked him, and then about 15 minutes later, someone else whom I had never met came over to me. He had just been at Lakeland. He asked if he could prophesy over me, and he proceeded to do so for about 30 minutes. The heart of his message was, “I see the fire of revival in your hands, and you are carrying it to the cities of the earth, and then returning home again. Then heading back out.”
It was quite amazing. So, your word hit home. The Detroit trips started shortly after I received those two words at IHOP. We’ll wait and see. We need some serious clarity and movement on our house if we are to make the move. Within this next week!
