I was downtown Detroit today with Ron Zettle and family, and had a blast. Detroit is a serious city of destiny, yet so many are speaking curses over it. You read how terrible it is, how people can’t wait to leave, etc. It’s time to stop that! I saw a license plate as we were in the parking garage returning to our car. Michigan is blessed! Revival is coming, and while it will cost much to see it, God loves this place so much that we must be willing to pay any price.
I was at IHOPE tonight, and God is piercing me with his presence and prophetic impression on my inner man.
I believe the Revelation Driven model of prayer for the global prayer movement is going to be implemented in houses of prayer and churches around the world. Tonight this revelation resulted in serious… I mean, hard and deep, intercession.
We’re moving into a critical season where we must minimize our addiction to petition as intercessors, and embrace the prophetic and declare the will of God with boldness. God is already convinced that certain things must happen, and we shouldn’t find ourselves always asking him about it. We must hear God and then apostolically and prophetically declare that it happens!
As we take on the mantle of a prophetic warrior, we’ll gain years in the mission as we don’t simply sit and wait and hope and petition… but actually enforce and implement the plans of God.
I plan on writing a companion book to Revelation Driven Prayer that’s focused toward houses of prayer and churches. It will be a manual for the global prayer movement and will give instruction on this particular model of prophetic prayer.
For now, here’s the simple process that any ministry or individual can implement:
First, it’s important to regularly set aside significant time to work through this process of prayer. Let’s consider how a 2-hour prayer watch would progress-
STEP ONE (First 30 minutes): Elimination- The first season of prayer is repentance and surrender. The prayer leader would initiate an atmosphere of personal repentance by encouraging everybody to cry out to the Lord, lay their lives down, surrender, deeply repent, etc. At some point, it may be appropriate to identificationally repent for city sins or national sins. However, this is not to be the thrust… it must be a result of what’s happening at a deep level in the people in the room.
STEP TWO (Second 30 minutes): Consecration- The second season of prayer, after we have pressed through into joy, life and freedom during the
repentance season, is worship. It’s in this place of free worship where we easily choose to be set apart and to minister to God. I’d encourage choruses and no prayer leading for this season. Encourage dancing, singing (in English and the Spirit), and engaging ministry to God.
STEP THREE (Third 30 minutes): Revelation- The third season of prayer is where it gets interesting. Encourage people, who should by now be quite in tune with the Holy Spirit, to listen to God’s voice. Expect precise revelation. The prayer leader should pray for the prophetic burning to increase in the room. As people receive prophetic words, pictures, impressions, etc. encourage them to write it down first (we use several large white boards in our house of prayer), and then, if they have clarity and it’s a public word, go to the mic. At the mic, they should spend a very short amount of time sharing the word (less than 20-30 seconds), but also, ensure they enhance the flow of prayer and they don’t disrupt the flow of prayer. The rest of the room should remain engaged in prayer, and the worship team should continue flowing, though at a lower level so the person can be heard. After they briefly share the word, they must then pray it! Declare it! Prophetically shout it into the atmosphere. When they are done, others can do the same.
STEP FOUR (Fourth 30 minutes): Execution- The prayer leader should now have a very good pulse on what God is saying. He will have the written words from the previous step and should have a general feeling on the key thrust for this last season. Now, this single focus is hit like a hammer! Coach the people to corporately punch through and declare the revealed will of God. If appropriate, open the mic for people to declare and tear down strongholds and advance God’s mission. This is the place where we execute God’s agenda.
We’ve seen miracles happen at Step Four. When God’s will is obvious, faith increases wildly. Praying according to God’s will is powerful, and it’s easy to see the answers come very quickly and dramatically.
