Now more than ever we need to war and pray in the cities of the earth

My heart is troubled as I write this as I’m witnessing a horrific advance of the enemy in the cities of the earth, and the response of the national church is currently, on a whole, seriously falling short.

Please read this carefully: If apostolic and prophetic leaders are not able to respond quickly with their full energy and full attention we most certainly will see entire cities fully taken over by demonic forces.

Many people may feel it’s not appropriate to say such a thing.  It has the feeling of defeat and it seemingly treads on the sovereignty of God.

Make no mistake- if we as the church are impotent, it’s not because of God.  If cities fall fully into enemy hands, it’s not God’s failure.

Let me make this very clear- if the church, and apostolic leaders, don’t step into position, America will fall.

Many of you know of my life mission of seeing Manitou Springs and other cities like it radically transformed.  It may surprise you that my feeling is that there is a significant chance of complete failure of that mission. Just because the call is there does not mean the mission will be fulfilled.  To see it comes to pass will require extreme participation and precision.

Example- if God lays it on a pastor’s heart to purchase a building and to open a soup kitchen, that pastor will need a lot of participation to see the dream come to pass.  If God lays it on the hearts of ten men to each give a special donation of $100,000 to cover the $1 million purchase price of the property, and if just one of those men does not respond, the mission is compromised.  Soup may never be served with the efficiency and systematic strength that’s necessary.  Simply, because of a secondary participant’s disobedience, someone will go hungry.  Stories like this play out day after day.  Pastors, apostles and others are hindered not because of their failure, but because of the lack of response of the church.

The pastor will still burn with the vision, many others will be excited about the vision, but the ability to see it come to pass isn’t there… not because of the failure of the pastor or the failure of the many… but, because of the failure of one.  If we have a wrong understanding of the sovereignty of God, we will buy into a belief in fate.  We will think that the call itself contains the necessary resource to see it come to pass.  This is not true.

My heart is heavy as the vision for Detroit and for Manitou Springs burns within me, and Amy and I are both zealously pursuing revival in these places.  This mission needs to be resourced.

We are asking the following:

  1. That you would financially partner with our ministry by committing $25, $50, $100 or more each month.
  2. That you would commit to interceding for our family and those connected to our ministry as we move into Detroit 9 times (at least) in 2009.  I had a chilling dream that has shaken me regarding Detroit, and we would make a great mistake if we moved into this Muslim stronghold without scores of people intentionally covering us night and day.
  3. That you would spread the word about this ministry to everyone the Lord lays on your heart.  Spread the word to pastors that you know and ask them to invite me to minister in their church.  You can see my open dates at www.praytherevolution.com/booking.

This is being sent out a couple of days prior to the end of 2008.  You will receive a tax-deduction for your gift if you donate via credit card at www.praytherevolution.com/donate OR if your envelope with your check is postmarked by December 31st.  Send the check to: 441 Manitou Ave., #220, Manitou Springs, CO 80829.  PLEASE ensure you attach a separate note to the church requesting that the donation goes to support John and Amy.

Tomorrow I’ll be part of a prayer meeting with Miles and Jodi Anderson, some RHOPpers and hopefully some amazing warriors from IHOPE-Detroit. We will be pressing toward a breakthrough in the spirit.  We are praying for extreme anointing, accurate revelation, unhindered financial flow and an influx of partners and fellow warriors.

Please, be in prayer with us.  Please, play a part in seeing a massive move of God in the cities of the earth stewarded well.

Amy and I thank you so much for your friendship.  We unapologetically are asking for radical participation from you and the others who are reading this message.  Many lives will be changed forever- of this I have no doubt.

John

John glad to hear you are going to be praying with Miles. Tell him we had a team of five men praying at RHOP last Sat. night during Hope for Israel meeting. Miles and Jodi continue to hold down the fort at RHOP, they do a great job.

It sounds like the “Fall of America” is one of the central messages of this Onething conference. Isn't Mike Bickle prophesying this both in the “Encountering Jesus” cds and from the stage at this year?

I thought the IHOP message was not how to stop it but how to prepare for both the coming tribulation and the glorious return of Jesus when He will transform not only Manitou and Detroit but the entire earth.

    Hi!
Yep, it'll be awesome to pray with them. We've had some good talks so far.
The IHOP message is primarily how to prepare for the coming trouble. It's an important message. The primary message that has always propelled me is that of city transformation. I know that Manitou is to be a 'model of revival for the nations'… which means there are blueprints for city revival that other cities will use. My book 20 Elements of Revival hits on this quite a bit.

I know there are many more Transformation videos to be made… I'd love Manitou to be one of them.

The city of refuge idea is important too. We'll see forerunner cities being transformed in preparation of an influx of people when trouble comes on a global level.
