Chiang Mai : Bangkok : Thailand : Photos

capture-00003-10-25-2008 Man, 100_2145-500x375it’s so awesome here!  I’m in the hotel conference room Skyping folks, catching up on email and getting ready to head out to an evening market here in Chiang Mai.  It’s 1:24pm here… which means it’s 1:24am back home in K C.  I Skyped Amy just before she went to bed.

The trip was amazing smooth and effortless.  No issues at all.  Thanks intercessors!

I flew way up into Canada (I saw white barrenness all around) and right through Alaska.  Then, I skimmed the border of Russia and headed southwest to Tokyo.

Thank God there were signs in English at the airport!  It seems as if English is spoken most everywhere.  I haven’t had a problem anywhere yet finding someone who understood me.

100_2142-500x375Then, after a very short layover in Tokyo (I was hoping for a longer one so I could check out some Japanese merchandise!) I got back on a plane for 6 hours to Bangkok.  I zonked out.

In Bangkok, I arrived at midnight, and decided (against good advice) to venture out of the airport to a nearby hotel.  It was 1500 baht a night, which works out to around $44 or so.  It was a strange little hotel… the drive into it had heaps of trash on either side, and it sure felt acapture-00000-10-25-2008 bit twilight zoney.  I got to my room, locked the door and the lock broke.  I fixed it and just before I fell asleep I decided to check the back patio door.  Yep, it was unlocked!  Oh well, God was covering me!

I fell asleep for four hours and then got a much needed shower and headed back to the airport.  The flight to Chiang Mai was only 55 minutes, so it was a breeze. Over 21 hours in the air plus some layover time.  Wild!

They drive on the other side of the road here, so that takes getting used to.  And, EVERYBODY seemingly has a capture-00002-10-25-2008motorcycle or scooter.  They are everywhere. They ride three to a bike at times!

I can’t wait for the conference to start.  I’m praying for REVIVAL!  I met a lady from Pakistan who runs a college of prayer with her husband.  I would LOVE to head out there!

So, I’ll post some pictures soon. Keep praying for FIRE here in beautiful Chiang Mai, Thailand!!

(Skype me if you want… my ID is praytherevolution.  I’m exactly 12 hours ahead of you.)

Peace!!

John

  1. At 1500 Bath/night I think you can get a better room. If you will provide the name of the hotel, I'm sure it would be useful to the others.
