Regarding the house of prayer movement, I usually get two reactions.
1. Huh? I don’t understand. 24/7 prayer? Why?
2. Yes! Of course! This is what’s coming! The church will never be the same!
I think in the western world, we have been so accustomed to the Moses generation style church that the idea of ministering to the Lord in perpetual prayer doesn’t compute.
Church means programs, outreach, seekers, fellowship, teaching and other elements to most of us. BUT, while all of that is very, very important, it can’t be accomplished without an EXTREME and continual encounter of the invisible, supernaturally empowering Holy Spirit. Zeal, desire, obedience and hope isn’t enough to get the job done. We must become supernaturally charged… and we must remain plugged in.
Just as my cell phone is only useful when it has a charge, we must also have a charge. My phone must be charged most every day! The same is true for us.
It breaks my heart, and makes me wonder, when people throw up defenses when presented with the idea of lengthy prayer. Sadly, the very high majority of believers I encounter very quickly find excuses against prayer. The idea of being with God in a place of deeply intentional intimacy doesn’t seem to have the appeal that it should.
Now, I easily understand the roadblocks to lengthy prayer. Since it’s an activity that is fueled by a tangible encounter with an invisible being (God!), it can be tough to tap into that type of experience. BUT- to not understand the overwhelming blessing that will occur when that experience happens is what is stunning. To be with Almighty God, and to experience him should be such a compelling passion that we do whatever it takes to discover Him in that way!

Be blessed!!
